What is investment Banking and which are the best?

History of Investment Banks :

Before civil war commercial banks were no different from investment banks, after the civil war modern investment banks came into existence and in 1933 Glass Steagall Act was introduced which separated the line of work. However, this law was abolished in the later part of 1990, it was the period for investment banks to grow like a ginger. After the financial crisis of 2008 most of these banks converted into holding companies.

The first bond was issued by Dutch East India Company to general public and was also the first public traded company. Earlier investment banks were into brokerage, IPOs and merger but these days they have evolved and many other sectors to look at such as market analysis, wealth management, and so on.
